California Unemployment
Insurance
The state of California has modified its Unemployment Insurance
Notice on October 03, 2003. This notice informs California
Workers' of their Unemployment Benefits, State Disability
Benefits, and Paid Family Leave Benefits. Effective July 1,
2004, Paid Family Leave benefits may be available when an
employee cannot do regular or customary work because of a
need to care for a seriously ill family member or to bond
with a new child.
California Unemployment
Insurance Benefits
On October 03, 2003, California has updated it's Unemployment
Insurance Benefit's Notice. The Unemployment Insurance Program,
commonly referred to as UI, provides weekly unemployment insurance
payments for workers who lose their job through no fault of
their own. Eligibility for benefits requires that the claimant
be able to work, be seeking work, and be willing to accept
a suitable job. The Unemployment Insurance program is financed
by unemployment program tax contributions from employers.
California Whistleblower
Protection Act
Effective January 1, 2004, The California Department of Justice
requires employers to prominently display the Whistleblower
Protection Act and Whistleblower Protection Hotline for their
employees to be informed of their their rights and responsibilities
under the Whistleblower Protection Act.
Smoking Policy
The State of California requires employers to post smoking
signs where smoking is prohibited and where smoking is not
prohibited. Examples of such signs are "Smoking is Prohibited"
or "Smoking is Not Prohibited".
